Functional Area 15: Measurement Facilities, Range, and Instrumentation Support

For the US Air Force, Expertech applied engineering, analytical and technician disciplines in the operation and support of instrumentation used for testing avionic systems.Expertech provided technical support to the Program Office in the development of calibration and adjustment and alignment test procedures for automatic test equipment and in the development of test programs.

In the development of calibration and adjustment/alignment test programs, Expertech provided an engineering analysis of the test requirements of the avionics being tested on the Benchtop Reconfigurable Automatic Tester (BRAT) to determine the calibration requirements of the BRAT. Expertech provided engineering and technical expertise in the area of Metrology and functional testing, working with the OEM and AFMETCAL, in the development of a Calibration & Measurement Requirements Summary (CMRS) for the BRAT. Expertech then updated and maintained the CMRS as calibration requirements changed.Expertech evaluated the developed calibration test programs to ensure that they met the requirements in the CMRS. Expertech provided engineering and technical expertise in the development of adjustment and alignment procedures for the BRAT, and evaluated the developed adjustment and alignment test programs to ensure that they met the requirements established.

In the development of test programs on the BRAT, Expertech provided engineering and technical expertise in the performance of a thorough study of all of the avionic Unit Under Test (UUT), including their sub-units, functionality, interfaces, performance and functional requirements, design and design specifications, and determined test strategies and test cases. Expertech reviewed manufacturer’s tests and test specifications. Expertech evaluated preliminary Test Strategy Reports, including test plans, test cases and test procedures. Reviewed and evaluated the Developer’s software/firmware and hardware design for compliance to the appropriate SOW, performance specifications, testing requirements, and military and/or industry standards for clarity of definition, testability, adequacy, and completeness.
